Storm Floods Charlottetown February 4, 2010

On January 2, 2010, Charlottetown was hit with a huge storm. Several homes and business were flooded from the storm surge which arrived at the same time as high tide. The storm surge reached its peak around 11 p.m. and started to subside with the outgoing tide. The water was starting to come through the decking onto our wharf that we use for dining. This wharf stretches into the Charlottetown Harbour. On a beautiful sunny day it is the most amazing place to share a meal with a loved one or a friend.
The tides were going to be amongst the highest of the year despite the impending storm due to the lunar cycle. We feel very fortunate that the storm surge and winds did not reach forecasted peaks. The harbour did flood over its banks and water could be seen bubbling up through storm drains surrounding Lobster on the Wharf. Many curious onlookers made their way down to the Charlottetown Harbour to see in person the rising waters. It was a sight to see and we are blessed that we did not sustain too much damage.
The countdown is on until we re-open, so far we have enjoyed a pretty mild winter. Let’s hope that the weather stays nice and that the summer will have many bright sunny days so all of our customers can enjoy their meals on the deck with us. We look forward to serving you soon!
